When it comes to clear communication, most people mistakenly believe “if you see me, you’ll support me.”
But the truth is…
“If you see yourself in me, you’ll support me.”
A bond in communication is created when your audience is able to see attributes of themselves in you. This bond is important because it binds their attention to you and creates an allegiance.
Primarily, every human is trying to figure you out as quickly as possible so they no longer have to pay attention to you.
An Abundance of Information
There are certain aspects of information and experiene that do not grasp our attention readily. Language that mistakenly relies simply on the meaning of the words to communicate will fall on deaf ears.
Create language that considers syntax, relatability and musicality; language that sustains a trance state rather than a witnessing state. The moment the content becomes unrelatable, my ability to pay attention will nose-dive, I see you as "other" and not me.
How do I use my voice in a way that maintains the audience's attention? When pitch and tempo become monotonous or "stuck", the listener's ability to predict what's next increases which releases their need to pay attention. Less attention = less memorability.

Every human is wildly unique, and always changing, molecularly speaking. The constant challenge between human and human is: how can we feel secure and relate to an ever-changing other?
Authentic Code Switching: the ability to identify the unique nature of the other and shift naturally / authentically to their "way". Or known by another label: Empathy.
